The Adoration of the Shepherds

18th century (est.)
Stift Sankt Florian, St. Florian, Austria

The shepherds are imagined as representing youth, middle age, and old age. They occupy only the lower right corner of the canvas, leaving room for God the Father's commendation of the Christ Child via the Holy Spirit, which is modeled on images of the Baptism of Christ and the Transfiguration.
